The out of Service marking also appears on the buttplate with what looks like a elongated flag shaped marking as well, no markings in the flag, UV***** <- and the flag above them, all on the semi-circle top to the brass buttplate.

Unless the flag thing is a huge number 1 on its side and theres just a wear mark making it into a flag shape, the angled part of the 1 if you will would be the end of the flag not attached to a pole.

    EnfieldNutt,

Here's the deal: Please send me a Private Message. Then I will reply with my private email address, and you can send the photos to me that way. You can just attach them to the email. Then I will post them to the forum here for everyone to see.

If you do not want everyone to see them for some reason, then I will respect that and not post them, if that is your wish. I would still like to see them so that I can see what is going on with this rifle.

I'm sorry to keep saying the same thing over & over, but we can talk and guess and misinterpret forever this way....just a few photos would make things so much easier.

    Thanks!

I dont mind the pictures being on display, i just cant get the forum to accept the other pictures for some reason. I should have access the other comp i mentioned before this evening and I will post them or send them over as well, ive been busy as of late more so than usual.
BTW, the BP marking with a Crown over it, the cursive one, it is present on the bolt side of the knox form with the other markings and SN, which is also on the barrel as well indicating original barrel.

I am now back in town AND the Camera works! What is the best way to whiten the markings like I see various collectors do, I personally think its ugly when people do it but it will help with making the markings visible, do they use chalk, or a grease pencil? Thanks for the Patience everyone, Im going to first take some pictures without the whitening and try to post them.

Heres some photos I took, I also tried to draw the markings for better clarity. In the meantime I did acquire the bayonet lug nose cap and a Bayonet to complete the display, Im keeping the old bits for originality's sake but since the nose cap came today, its riding onboard in the photos.
