I was looking for a L42A1 Sniper for my son. he is a Canadianicon Soldier (PPCLI) laying in bed with cancer and told me he wanted a Lee Enfield sniper rifle. Is this one still on auction or for sale?

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... Nice bit of kit, possibly out of my price range, but while looking at a No4 T (see link below) it was the serial number that rang a few bells, its 525 rifles older.

You're right Brian. I was wondering what he meant at the start. What is a brand new IWS, in the correct box worth in the US Brian?

Before you ask, the correct box/chest for the IWS should be the larger dark green box that caters for the Auto Brightness Control (the ABC unit). But it's all pretty academic. The correct box is shown on an article I wrote a couple of years ago

It's hard to determine value as the original IWS scopes are very rare over here in the USAicon. I know I wouldn't part with mine for anything less than a King's ransom!

The L8 sight is known as the CWS (common weapon sight) and will fit on virtually anything. The L96 is obsolete now and the narrow sight rail caused a few interchangeability problems that could only be solved with an adaptor rail - which then raised the CWS a bit. All solved now though
