If it ain't got a makers name then it's a Kodak from Welwyn Garden City. But have been informed that that isn't strictly correct as Kodak have/had facilities all over Hertfordshire. But there it is!

The Kodak ones always seem to look a bit rough but are pretty good internally

But around the 15232 area, there seems to be a bit of an overlap between the Watsons and Kodaks and I haven't quite managed to pinpoint a GOOD ball-park change-over number

Mine is dated 1943 with ser.#8582 and the one in post 6 has a 1944 date and is No. 8395. What gives?
How were the Kershaw Mk.1's and 2's marked? KL?

Isn't there some suggestion that factories were bombed by the Germans leading to delays in production - which would I suppose explain why some in the 8,000s were produced later than higher numbered ones?

AFAIK it was only Watson who were blitzed, which is said to explain why you see late (1944 dated) Mk1's produced by them - because of the disruption they were slow to make the change-over to Mk2's. The ones I've seen were all in the 14,000-odd serial range though, at least so far as I can remember. PL might be able to give more detail on this.
