Winter time > HP's or FMJ's in your carry piece.?
Now that colder weather is on the way here in Pennsylvania I change over to FMJ ammo. I carry a S&W bodyguard in .380 because its easy to conceal at work. I figure the FMJ will penetrate several layers of clothing and still have enough energy to do its work. I have a concern HP'S will clog up and not expand/penetrate. I do this in all my carry guns .45,.40,.9mm.
Anybody else make changes with the different seasons.?

Never thought that about that scenario. I use a Body Guard also that has a laser and shoots 38Special HPs!
Round of choice is the Pow'R Ball that has Polymer Ball capped cartridge. States that it will not clog up with clothing and will penetrate a winshield and thin metal. Never tested it though.

I carry the semiauto version, mine has built in laser too but it tends to drift off after one mag.![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif)
The thing with these mouse guns is the short barrel, HP's need velocity to expand as designed, throw a leather jacket, hoody, shirt, long johns, And a rib in there with a .380 and I start having doubts. I would go bigger but carrying at work is....frowned upon.
Pow'R ball and Hornaday's critical defense are definitely an improvement in HP bullet design.

when I carry it is a PTa3 Keltec in .380. FMJ. If I use it, the range will be 12" to the gut of the aggressor. Three rounds expended, three rounds left for who ever. I keep it simple and reliable. I won't miss.

I would be VERY concerned with over penetration with a FMJ. Remember you are responsible and liable for every round. If you are worried about Carhart jackets and such a +P round may be what you need if your pistol can handle them. Just my .02, I would never carry FMJ
