Good to have you here SS Sniper! I started shooting in my early teens too with bb and pellet guns. Its a great time to learn about guns and always be ready to listen to older people who have been shooting and collecting for a long time. They will be able to teach you and help you out in many many ways. I was taught to shoot by a retired US Army sniper instructor who got was in the vietnam war. Good shooting.

Hello everyone,
I'm a complete noob to this entire genre and simply trying to learn about a few pieces my uncle wants to get rid of. Thinking about adding one or two to start collecting something new.

Hello all! I am a brand new member to this group, although I have been tapping your depth of knowledge for a little while. While I love guns, life took over after I got out of service and left me with no time for hobbies. Now, some forty years later, I am jumping in with both feet! Got a newish Springfield M1A and an oldish 03 Springfield! Now to start collecting chipmunk hides! With 100 I can make a tiny, tiny rug!

New member intro
I found this forum from a thread in the Uzitalk forum due to my current interest in Sterling SMGs. I am a long time collector of Mauser and Springfield rifles. Although retired from 40+ yrs in aerospace/defense work, I have a fulltime gunsmithing business here in Prescott, AZ. Back to milsurp, I also have a CMP M1 Garand and a DCM M1 carbine (from 1964). Happy to be here and looking forward to sharing info on this forum.

SMLE Rifle 5 Long Branch #4 Mk 1* on receiver
good evening fellow oppressed gun enjoying gentlemen. I saw an older post on Long Branch No 5 rifles and saw quotes that none were made.
I recently got two #5 rifles
1. A 303, looks like new, with the No 4 LB receiver and no wrist band mark.
2. A 7.62, looks like new, with a grooved but unmarked receiver and an Ishapore wrist band mark dated 1968. 800 meter rear sight, with RFI on the flat.
??? is is possible Ishapore was making No 5 rifles from older parts?
Is anyone else out there making Mutts from parts? these sure seem like good quality weapons...
appreciate any thoughts or schooling.
