    Early colt ar 15 buffer

Does any one know where to find and what is the cost of the very early type buffers for the Colt AR 15 rifle? Thanks in advance

    early Edgewater buffer

These are difficult to find now and the military replaced them in 1968, Colt SP1 had them a little longer. They work ok in semi auto, like Jim stated maybe Numrich or SARCO Attachment 64645Attachment 64646

It'd probably be cheaper to turn one out of aluminum stock to spec...that's what I'd do. The line drawing must be here somewhere...

    Edgwater buffer

I have seen the line drawings of the Edgewater, too difficult to make and may not work,
better to keep looking and check the ar15 websites. You should be able to find one.

The solid white plastic Colt 606 buffer could be used too

I wouldn't make it to original spec though. They had problems after all, even if it was just the bolt bounce during FA. I'd make it using the outside spec and the insides of a current buffer...I think it would work and no one would get wise...

They show up regularly on Gunbroker.com and AR15.com equipment exchange. Search: "edgewater buffer" when looking. Between the two, I see one or two every couple months. A few months back there were about 3 or 4 for sale at the same time. If you really want to weep, in the late 80s when I was building ARs from parts on PWA and Sendra lowers, we had to seek the Edgewater buffers into builds we sold, because nobody wanted them! I got rid of about a dozen back then, just using them in cheapo builds.
