I twas on a USAF M16 w/o forward assist. I had fired an M79 in the Army, but in the USAF SP unit 1979 to 1981, we had a couple M203s I could easily put it through a window at 100 yards, or drop it on a car at 200! I loved it.

I've actually got a Slickside sitting in the safe waiting to be built! Were the M203 mounted like the ones in my photos? Always interested to hear from the guys who carried em. I'm assuming your assistless was a colt?

Yep, looked just like that. It was a Colt, roll marked "M16" on a full fence lower. I had a GAU-5/P shorty (14.5 in. 1/12 barrel), though, that was built on a Colt 601 or 602 lower with a non-captive pivot pin. The USAF is the master of "Franken Carbine Mix-Masters" hahah!

Found a couple more. Man I love this rifle! I can't get over how light it is!
Now I'm really getting the urge to build up the Slickside upper sitting in the safe!
