Got the email from CMP that all carbines are sold and I did not make the cut....Darn!

    Greetings,

If you are receiving this email, we regret to inform you, you did not make the cut for the M1icon Carbine you ordered thru CMPicon. We had over 8,000 orders and only a small number of Carbines. If you mailed in new information or are a new customer, we are in the process of updating those files. We have a large number of customers still to update, so please give us a couple of months before checking to see if your information has been updated.

We appreciate your support of CMP.

    Thank you,

    Mark Johnson
    CMP Chief Operating Officer

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Not taking maker requests, $625-$685 with no sling, oiler, or magazine. Adding those GI items could be around $75+ more. Maybe a birch stock and some foreign markings, basically just a shooter. What was the allure?

Shooters in my area sell for $850 to $1,000 with sling, oiler, and magazine, and usually a walnut stock. Some guys say less in different parts of the country.

Might find a carbine at a local store or gun show close to the same price range, and maybe better features.

I lucked out and got a sweet Underwood SA/SHM service grade for the $685. I dunno but it was pretty alluring to me:
