    Embedded Video Player Problems

    Morning Doug,

Just today I recently encountered a problem with the embedded video player here, first on an A10 video I posted and secondly when attempting to watch your post about US Marines in Colour.

Also the Little "y" (Watch on youtube) in the bottom right corner of the video player box will not take me to the video, it will only take me to the youtube main page.

I am running the same unit I always have, with no prior issues:

IBM Thinkcentre PC, Windows 7 Pro
    Google Chrome: Version 52.0.2743.116 m

    Attached is a screencap

I'm not sure what it could be, as the Marines video is simply an embedded play of a standard YouTube vidoes from their site.

Just to eliminate anything local, CLEAR YOUR BROWSER CACHE (click here) and try to view the video again. In most computer-based web browsers, to open menus used to clear your cache, cookies, and history, press Ctrl-Shift-Delete (Windows) or Command-Shift-Delete (Mac). If doing that it's not obvious how to clear your cache for your specific version or browser, search your browser's Help menu for "clear cache". Also, if you didn't like the first web site on how to clear your browser cache, here's another one you that will show you ... How to Clear Your Browser's Cache (click here). It should be noted that whenever you have any kind of a problem with your Internet browser using any web site, ALWAYS clear your cache first to see if that action fixes the problem. Internet browser caches have a tendency to get corrupt from usage, unless they are cleared from time to time.

I use FireFox v48.0 on my Apple MAC with OSX El Capitan 10.11.6 (15G31) operating system and it's playing fine.

I'll looking into testing with Chrome browser (and others) to see if it's a browser related issue, or something else...

    Thanks...

    Regards,
    Doug

I cleared the cache as you directed, and the embedded player formatting is unchanged, however the second post style of the video in your marine thread works perfectly.

I will check with other means once I have access later today.

    Thanks for your efforts.

    Hello Doug,

I have been looking over the coding of the pages now that I realize all of the formerly known good videos on this site are broken, and haven'y found anything glaringly wrong from my long since forgotten Q-basic trained eyes. However the root cause could be in the current BB coding of the shockwave flash player, and Google Chrome not playing well together.

I did find this article published in the last 13 hours that might give a more talented mind some ideas:

    http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/in...-dead-3332967/

Mid-post update, I have experienced the same issue running Internet Exploder, so it isn't just browser related.

More to follow from my end.

---------- Post added at 02:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:19 PM ----------

Confirm everything looks great from my Android mobile device, both with tapatalk mobile app and Google Chrome Mobile, perhaps it's specifically related to the PC I currently have in front of me.

Before you draw that conclusion, can you download and test FireFox?

    Thanks..

I would, however I lack certain permissions on this device if you follow my meaning.

I am a little short on time this evening but I do confirm my home laptop is encountering this same issue:

    Version 52.0.2743.116 m

Google Chrome is up to date.

If could download and run FireFox as a test on your home on your laptop, that would be helpful.

    Thanks..

I think we may have fixed the issue for most Chrome and Safari browser users...

I'm not completely sure about the AOL specific version of Chrome, as I don't use AOL, but I checked native Chrome running on my Apple MacBook Pro and I now see both versions of the video in the first post of this video thread just fine using both Chrome and Safari, plus it continues to work fin with FireFox as it always has.

U.S. Marines WW2 Combat Footage (Color)

Let me know if you can see both versions now ..

    Thanks...

    Regards,
    Doug

Doug, that works perfectly, a return to normal, thank you.

In general sorts of terms what was the nature of the problem?
