Your front sight hood is on backwards--fairly common malady with these rifles. How is the bore? I agree about the shoulder. I think that that rifle should be sent a long way away from your shoulder to prevent any possibility of further pain. For safekeeping, I volunteer my basement here in Vernon, BC......always happy to have another Ross.

Here is a pick of a few of the originals. My Grandfather is the cheery one below the arrow. Zooming in I see what BAR meant about the fore stock. I looked again the hoods are all the same way, My mistake.

The picture mentions Cornwall on the bottom. I have no idea. I am the curator of the small family photo collection now, with little to no history on anything. I am glad a few have rifles of interest in them.
