Canadian No7 mag in RN N9 .22 trainer
I have finally managed, with help, to track down and acquire a a new old stock magazine from a Canadian No7 to use in my RN N9 .22 trainer. Despite having been told it would not function properly I am delighted to be able to report that it functions perfectly. bearing in mind that it is a loading platform not a magazine. Cartridges placed on the platform and pushed forward by hand chamber perfectly and the empties fall as intended into the well at the rear of the housing. Placing a round loose on the tray and closing the bolt does not work, but all in all a super improvement.

Why did they think that it would not work?
The C No7 and the N9 are almost identical surely.

I've no idea, but my suggestions on a number of forums were generally pooh-poohed.

I don’t mean to be smart but..it sounds like it doesn’t “work” by your description. Perhaps what you describe would be “not working” to others.
If one of my M1 Carbine mags required me to push the cartridges forward by hand before they chambered, I would definitely say that mag didn’t work.
Just conversating! Sounds like you’re quite happy and that’s all that really matters here!

I think you misunderstand, the so called magazine is a loading platform, nothing more, it functions exactly as it was designed to do in the C No7. (see here http://www.rifleman.org.uk/Enfield_Rifle_No.7-C.html). The big question was would it function correctly as designed for the C No7 in the RN issue N9. And it does, despite many people saying it would not.

I do indeed misunderstand!
Thanks for the clarification (that probably wasn’t needed for the other 90% of the readers).
I’ve learned something new!
