Looks like a Practice M2 Grenade.. It would have had a small puffer charge inside the body..

These have been much copied as it is very easy to make a mould off an original grenade body, hence you cannot go off any impressed markings etc.. The mousetraps are usually range pickups and as long as the cap and charge has gone, should be OK..

Originally the real M2 was filled with rifle powder and had an igniferous fuze. The idea was that it would burst rather than detonate and give a better fragmentation pattern, as cast iron tends to go to dust when filled with HE. It was decided later to fill them with TNT as it gave a better blast effect. The fuze was changed for a detonating one, and the grenade was issued fuzed, sealed in a tin can...
