Colt Officer’s Model Match at 25 metres
Today, since we’re going to be locked up again on Monday, at least until after Easter, I used the opportunity of my afternoon as range officer for some shooting.
Only one guy came, so I had plenty of time.
After a couple boxes of ammo with some 9mm pistols, I decided to try my Colt revolver at 25 metres for the first time.
I have it perfectly zeroed at 15 metres, so I was not quite sure how it would have behaved at 25.
With Winchester Super Speed, it prints a tad high, but all in all, that was a good target. 50 rounds and only two 7.
The rest much better.
And now...a few weeks of foolishness...

revolver target shooting
I have a S&W K-38 (1962 manufacture) with 8 3/8 inch barrel, it is single action and has an excellent trigger pull combined with nice target grips.
My problem is that it would occasionally fired a flyer outside of the group. I decided to test fire some targets using only three chambers each time. I was able to determine which chamber was doing this and marked it with white paint so as not to load it. The second target was at 10 meters with flyers and the first target at 25 meters using only the five good chambers.
Also had the barrel throat re-cut to 11 degrees which was also an improvement Attachment 116132Attachment 116131
