I would have soaked in Muriatic acid and be done with rust. It works wonderfully.

The pics here are not a "K bar" but a Mk1 I think. It was just leather stock. I did a kit too and the hardest is gluing the slabs and then the slimming.

The electrolysis worked pretty well but I think the acid might get the rest. Isn't there a water MA mix ratio? How much soak time?

Yes, I've been told 50/50. I just use straight and a couple hours or until it's ALL gone. It'll do it up perfect for you. If you leave it overnight, it'll turn black when you wash it.

Yard Sales not much this morning, just a souvenir plate from the Patton Museum





1st day for the one antique flea market I hit was better. I picked up a pretty standard US mess kit from 1966. Also this shell which I believe is a Russian 57x347 anti-aircraft or anti-tank shell casing.

More munitions today. The first is a BLU 26/B Inert Cluster Bomblet:







The second is a BDU-33 D/B practice bomb from 1979:













I also picked up two more US mess kits, a LEYSE 1944 an a LEYSE 1952

And finally two more toy halftracks, a Dinky and a Matchbox. Tracks are on order for both.

The shell is Russian, for the S-60 anti-aircraft gun. Possibly made in 1974.

I have a family trip this weekend that I forgot all about. So I can't hit any yard sales or my regular shops. Hoping I find something where we are going. I'll enter withdrawel. On the positive side, it's both military and history related. Ft Miles and Ft Delaware. Perhaps I'll at least get some books out of it.

Couple of items today at an antique shop. WWII era 1944 water resistant sleeping bag cover. Tag is present but can't be read. Later ones had large tags fully sewn to the edge, this has the cloth tags more standard with WWII sewn just on one end. The second is a 1957 dated duffle bag. Came with the sleeping bag cover so not something I would normally buy. Looking at it at home I see it was issued to a woman which I thought unusual for 1957. Found her immediately. She passed away three years ago, served 1957-1961 and then lived the rest of her life married in her hometown. She was not a nurse.

I'll post some photos tomorrow; lighting was already bad when I got home.















There is writing on the tag, I just can't read it. doesn't show in the photo at all.

Yesterday was rainy so outside dealers were non-existent. My usual guys under the pavilion didn't show up either. We went to an antique shop I don't get much at typically but I found a Barclay toy cannon and a 60mm mortar body. Not sure of the nationality but assuming it is US. Possibly unfinished as the bottom is not threaded. These were cast by numerous manufacturers and then finished by another company.
