I have a M1922 M2 it hasn't been fored much, was in an old guys closet for years and he didn't want to sell it. After he died another guy picked it up from the estate, brought it to the spring gun show I organized and took items in trade that I had on the table didn't want cash. It only took about 7 or 8 years to get it but it didn't get much use before or after. I only took it to the range once in 15 years, the butt plate dos not have much wear except rack wear. Picked up an M2 mag a while back for around $50 last year, I couldn't pass up the deal. I have a Springfield 03 but built as a .22, with parts from a 1922, mainly the bolt and barrel. It looks exactly like an 03 except the barrel is about 1/2 an inch shorter than the regular 03.

The correct sling for the M2 rifle would be the model 1907 sling. I was issued an M2 when trying out for a college ROTC rifle team in 1955. I don't recall if the web sling was on it or the 1907. Due to the superiority of the 1907 sling for position shooting I would say it was most likely the 1907. Web or 1907 would have been used from during WWII until the 1922MII and M2 rifles were taken out of service in about 1956 or 1957.

dont think it "came" with a sling per se' but i would think a nice M1907 leather sling would be appropriate ,
im sure an M1923 , M1917 kerr type , or even an M1 would be OK as well

dont believe it was 'issued' with a specific sling , could be wrong , but i would fit it with a vintage M1907 if it were mine , thats a fine rifle

I agree with A Square 10. The M2 rifle I was issued by my ROTC unit when trying out for the rifle team in 1955 had a WWII era web sling. I may have replaced it with the M1907 sling as it was much better for target shooting.
