looks suspect to me, I would steer clear of any with the circular pattern unless you know the gent who carried it in ww2, don't trust his nephew

one thing to always remember about a flip sight, it was the top bumper of the gun, where are the nicks and dings? ok it was removed, did they use a no mar press to remove the obsolete sight? I doubt it where are the staking scars? so in my opinion 3 strikes against a surplus sight off a surplus gun, yeah righto Hell I have only had two glasses of vino tonite

Question is where did it come from ? Most Carbine enthusiast know of that certain e-bayer known for his forgeries . Me personally it looks too good to be true.

According to very reliable sources
the type 1 sights were retained by ordnance after removal for rebuild. This begs the question; where did all of the thousands, hundreds of thousands go?

Marcus is right. The flip sight is a fake. It has the same features as the ones coming from Minnesota and California. The best tip that I can give you about this generation of fakes is that they are too perfect. The milling machines that make them is of a higher quality than WW2 vintage.

Thank You CA/Newscotlander.
There is more we can add about "Lack Of Features" .... But it will help the wrong people.

Very sure it's fake. Not even close, IMO. I wouldn't have known this last year.

Why don't these forger's just come out and and market exact reproduction instead of trying to fool the public ? Think about it there would be a bigger market for an honest reproduction than trying to sell fakes on ebay. I would have bought one back in the day for my re-enacting Carbine . If these fakes are that good and sold as such they would sell a ton . No one would buy a fake for 100.00 but you could probably find people to buy exact repros for 30.00-40.00 dollars. I know there are repro's out there now as I have bought them but they are not THAT good.

You just stated the reason. They are trying to make them look original to get the $100+ verses $15-30 if advertised as a reproduction part. I don't think guys would pay $40 if they knew it was a reproduction part. And not just sights, a lot of other parts with harder to find markings. Buyers need to ask questions and beware. A classic scam to get more of your.......
