    If you're ever in Australia

Check out the Wikipedia entry for Lithgow Australiaicon Lithgow, New South Wales - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
and scroll down to the tourist part. Every year they have a festival where locals dressed in period 19th century clothing and uniforms have what they call the "The battle of Lithgow" involving Calvary, infantry and artillery. Plus they have a museum
Lithgow Small Arms Factory - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
where they display lots of LE's from all time periods. Sounds pretty neat and will definitely be on my agenda if I ever head for the bottom of the planet!

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Lithgow Small Arms Museum

I live a couple hours from the place and let me tell you it's worth the trip.
You name it they have it, not just Lithgowicon's and smle's.
If you ever take the trip my advice is, pack your lunch as you will be in no hurry to leave.

A bunch of us went late last year... Bindi and a few others had to head home that arvo, but some did a second tour the following morning. There is a photo posting in the Knowledge Libraryicon here...
Milsurps - Lithgow SAF Museum Tour
There's a link at the bottom of the text for the original pictures, plus another further down with more pics added by another member. The idea is to show you what you are missing by not being there in the flesh! The pics will never do the experience justice. It's a religious experience....
