Springfield 34 receiver , 36 barrel-original pairing?
There is a rifle with this combination. It has an Ogden rework stamped stock. Do you think it two years to mate the barrel with the receiver in the factory or is this mix and match arsenal re-work? Thanks

It would be hard to tell for sure, but wouldn't surprise me. Most rifles manufactured at Springfield Armory during that period were pieced together as needed, there, or at other arsenals.

Hatcher hole ?
I think they started to drill the Hatcher hole around 1935 ? this 1.47 mil receiver has a SA 9-35 barrel and is without the Hatcher hole. Do you have the Hatcher hole in your 34 receiver ?

Heres a 1.48 mil reciever from late '34 with the Hatcher hole and 3-36 SA Barrel.

I can remember a local rifle range where the gunsmith would drill your receiver for the Hatcher hole for a small fee. Not all (but most) were done by the military.
