US T17E3 Machine Gun Ammo Crate
Wasn't sure where else to post this. Thought you guys might find the story entertaining (of the crate, not the gun).
The T17E3 was a very short lived experiment by the US military to develop a machine gun with more BANG than the 50 BMG. To the best of my knowledge, it sort of faded away and was overtaken by the 20mm.
On to the crate! I answered a Craigslist ad that had a picture of dozens of wooden crates all from the St. Louis Armory and this was among them.
I asked the gentleman where they all came from. He tells me his wife works in a large warehouse that had been converted to office space. The interior walls? Yup. Nailed together St. Louis Armory crates. Some even without lot numbers. I figure the enterprising chap that converted the space picked up a truckload from the armory. Perhaps when it closed.
Anyway, you don't see these everyday so I thought I'd share. Enjoy!
