Shooting high - raise/lower front post

Tried out another batch of 7.62x54r reloads (45-49grns H414 with 174grn bullets), and found a sweet spot with 47grns of powder. I got a great group of 10 about 2.5" at 100yards, but it was about a foot too high. I do not want to shoot with the bayonet mounted.

Do I raise or lower the front post. Note, I won't be filing, I'll be using plastic tubing or something like it to raise it.

The phrase to remember for ALL sight adjustments is FORS (Front opposite - Rear Same) ...

In other words, you want to move the appropriate sight (front or rear) in the direction specified, to MATCH the direction you want to move your MPI (mean point of impact) grouping to center it on the target.

So, in your example, you want to move your 2 1/2" group down (lower) by about a foot, so you would either lower the REAR SIGHT or raise the FRONT SIGHT an appropriate amount to do that.

    Is that clear?

    Regards,
    Badger
