a3 rear sight question

I finally got my a3 up and running. Shoots well. A bit low at 100 yards approx 5".
my question is looking at the elevation adjustment I see index mark on the slideing peep to match he nu.hers on the side. So how other than min and Max elevation do you tell what yardage elevation is indexed? Also is there a moa chart to see what the difference in moaxis from one yardage to the other.
I didn't have a lot of time to play. I'm shooting a 200 yard match and looking for some cheatsheet info. I'm shooting hxp

I don't remember the dope on my 03A3. But you probably need a new front sight if you want it to shot POA. I replaced mine with a taller unit because mine was shooting too high when I first got it. You can do three things.

#1. Figure out what unit might be smaller, I should say, shorter. They are all marked with a letter. And then you can decide if the one you have on there is taller than some of the others you could buy. Meaning, if you have a "D" marked one, I believe it is taller than an "A", "B", or "C" unit. Therefore you could order those or one of them and see if it helps your POA.

#2. File your front down. Go slow. Shoot, test, file. Repeat.

#3. Just adjust your rear sight. I'm assuming you had it in the lowest position when it was shooting 5" low.

I should clarify something. Are you shooting a 6 o'clock hold? It could be someone had it set up for POA if that's how you hold. I have always prefer POA, as I try and cut the bull in half with the flat on the post. That works for me. I can't stand the vagueness of a 6 oclock hold. But it works for some poeple.

As far as your match goes, I would shoot it again to find where need to be. The do usually give you some time to zero in. Well, I think they give you like 3 sighters or so. But if you're not close, you might be shooting yourself in the foot. Unless they're real laid back and will let you do more than normal.

#3 would be the quickest fix, if you don't have time to do the others. But I don't remember how many MOA are each space on the sight. I would guess if you come up 2, you'd probably be close. But I don't remember. And your zero won't be horribly different from 100 to 200. So if you get it dialed in at 100, you can adjust from there at your match. You might not need to change anything.

I believe there are 5 different sight blades for the A3. With early blades, the tallest was unmarked, then it went A-D. Later blades, all were stamped A-E, A being the tallest.

Heights are 0.537 , 0.522 , 0.507 , 0.492 , 0.477. A 0.015 difference between each, changing about 2 MOA.
