Three new (old) books
I recently was given a copy of Captain Basil Liddell Harts History of the Second World War. This lead me to two other books.
The first is "Liddell Harts History of the First World War".
First published in 1934, thgis edition was published first in 1970, then in 1973. Sorry, no ISBN.
Captain Basil Liddell Hart, 1895-1970, is recoginised as one ot the worlds outstanding teacher-historians. He fought in the First World War, and was invalided in 1924. A early advocate of airpower and armoured forces, he became an adviser to the War Minister in 1937, but resigned a year later because reorganization was to slow and he wished to press the need publicly.
Militry Correspondent to 'The Daily Telegram' from 1925-1938 and 'The Times' until the out break of WW@, he also lectured on strategy and tactics at staff colleges in many countries and wrote more then 30 books.
The books speak for them selves, although there are no photographs, they do mave many maps. These are serious books by a student and teacher of militry history.
The second book is "Infantry Brigadier", the autobiography of Major General Sir Howard Kippenberger. I bet that none of you have heard of him! Well, he was commander of a Territorial Battalion in New Zealand at the start of WW2. This is his story, and the story of both the 20th Battalion and 5th Brigade from 1939 until 1945.
It is also the story of the adventires of the 2nd New Zealand Division of the same period by one of New Zealand's best soldiers.
All these books are well worth a read.

So I can't spell, so what!!!
Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
Those who beat their swords into ploughshares, will plough for those who don't!
Be polite. Be professional. But, have a plan to kill everyone you meet.
