Help with Winchester Carbine
Greetings everyone, I am a new member and stumbled on to this site while trying to gather some knowledge about my carbine. My dad traded for this rifle back in the 60's and we've had it has been in the family since. I don't have the serial number with me right now but it is late war and it has adjustable sites and bayonet mount type front band. All parts including the stock and handguard are "W" marked, the only exception I can see is the trigger itself which if I remember right has an "I" stamp on it. The gun is in excellent shape, good bore and wood and cycles flawlessly. The only flaw in the whole gun is on the forend of the stock the wood is very thin and so thin that there is a whole about a half inch long and maybe 1/8 to 1/4 inch wide where it is actually worn through. It is not damage, it is just thin wood. Do you all have any idea as to value of the rifle or have any thoughts on what I have? Thanks for allowing all the questions.

First off, welcome to the site. Please stay and enjoy
Are you talking about where the front band spring goes through the stock in the channel? This is quite common. We really need photos and a serial number to assess a true value.
