    M1 Carbine Inland 1945 WW2 late Ser# 711xxxx

Anyone here happen to see this on GB? I wonder if the seller, or some of the bidders for that matter, know that this is contraband. Obviously the seller doesn't know the difference between a handstamp and a restamp. Nice looking carbine. Too bad it's "taint"

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Why contraband? Are you saying there would be full auto internals?

Pretty obvious in that serial number range it was originally an M2 that someone ground off the 2 and re-stamped a 1 over it. If you know your Inland hand stamped ones they look like "l" not "1". As far as ATF is concerned, once a machine gun, always a machine gun. Besides, by this time the numbers were machine stamped. I wouldn't touch it with a 20 foot pole!

You have to love the crisp boxed SG with a well worn crossed cannon cartouche.

Why is it that the name Riverbank Armory just popped into my head? George sold some really nice looking carbines.
