    M1903

Luckily I just found this forum.

I recently acquired a M1903 six digit SN rifle that has a '40's dated barrel.
It appears in brand new condition.
This rifle still has grease caked in the barrel, receiver, mag well, everywhere.
I am wondering what the approx. value of this weapon.

It depends on which end of the "six digit" end you're talking. Is it above or below 800,000? Below the at number and it is a case hardened receiver and the value is quite a bit less than "above".

In any case, the barrel is a replacement and there is a pretty good chance there are other replacement parts, as well. Without seeing pictures (or a more detailed description), any value I give you would be a guess.

    Below 800,000- $350-450

    Above 800,000- $450-650

Really need a photo. Depends on a lot of different factors. USMC rifle? US Army rifle? Mint, new, beat. Lots of issues.

Sometimes the stock or bolt can be worth as much as the rest of the rifle - depending on the condition and markings on both.

Also would help to know if its a Springfield or a Rock Island.

(Thought I would mention it before JB starts cutting a switch )

    Regards,

Good call, Jim. Overlooked that point. (And I haven't been sniffing any bore cleaner, either, JB!!)
