Great glass ...superior workmanship..state of the art for its' time along with Fecker...B&L...Zeiss. The only thing to worry about is the condition of the rubber seals and if their integrity still makes it fogproof. The lens coatings are primitive for what we have today but the quality of the lens make up for quite a bit of it. Still a Cadillac! Buy a PADDED zippered wine bottle case to carry it in, it works great! Hope this helps! Jerry

I would take the information on the eBay description with a heavy dose of salt. I didnt notice any evidence Of USMC ownership on the pictures and i believe the USMC purchased Argus scopes during WW2. Of course anything is possible in the internvening years or as a "one-off" by a motivated individual but I wouldn't value the scope based on the story with out more evidence.

I used one for years when I was on the Navy Team. I now use a Kowa 661. I wish I had the Unertl back ....

Buy the rifle (scope), not the story.
I have an identical one, bought at an auction for $50.00.
Good optics.

Sorry guys,
Just to clarify, I already purchased the one in the photos in my top post. I just added the epay one for comparison. Yes, I agree buy the item, not the story. My scope had no story, just a very low price tag. The funny thing is that I was looking for an O'Hare site cover. I guess if you go out looking for one thing, you might come with something else you weren't expecting.
thanks

If you paid less than $300 you probably did very well. I know a guy who uses a Unertl with the 90 degree eye piece and he has been offered $1000 for it.
He still has it.
