My First M1 Carbine. 1943 Inland

I just purchased an M1 Carbine, made by Inland. This gun was supposedly brought home from the war and doesn't look like it's been fired much at all. Any comments are welcome. Thanks

I knew I had seen that barrel with the red letters before! Good detective skills! I have a 522K and it has a dogleg. The one above would be very close to the switch because of the skipped saginaw serials, but I don't have CC #346 in front of me to check the range of the changeover. Yes that is the gun from the gunbroker auction, however the high bidder decided he paid too much and returned it to the seller. I bought the gun for less than the figure you see in the auction. Why does this look like a restoration? I believe it is a nice original.

Red letters probably came from someone using a red grease pencil maybe?

Greystone, I hate to even go here but that rear sight looks like a repop to me and not just because of the pin. The milling marks are suspect. The barrel band doesn't look right either. The dovetail looks round staked for a type II or III sight. Nice looking carbine but not for 4 +K.

Take a looks at this tread Trigger Housing Hammer Strike Pic Needed and look at the rail on the top of your trigger housing. Can you take a pic and show us?
I was discussing this area with a few members here in the last few days and sometimes the hammer and spring were changed in the field to lighten the trigger pull. It does not make it bad just not original anymore and the price goes down. This and the rear sight stake marks are two of the things that just can't be hidden very well once they have been changed. I would rather have the field modified parts that a rechanged back original that shows that it had later parts. I hope yours is right, but a few things in the pics don't add up.
