    Budapest M95 RepetierKarabinerStutzen in 8x50r

    Hi all,

Just felt I would share with you all the results of my first trip to the range with my Budapest manufactured M95 RepetierKarabinerStutzen in the original 8x50r. For a carbine made in 1910 and certainly not treated the best, it does perform adequately.

This one was a bit of a challenge to get going, being the first time I have ever had to reform brass to make a caliber. I used some 8x56r which I cut down to the proper length (also found out I had less brass than I thought), and sized with my CH4D die set (had to wait a couple months for those to come in). I used a 200grn flat based .323 diameter spitzer bullet under 44.6grns of IMR 3031 (which is also one of my favourite powders).

It did take a while to figure out where I was hitting (took 25 out of my 40 shots to figure out where to aim). Once I figured out where to aim (about two feet down and a foot and a half to the right at 100m) every shot hit the target. Now they aren't amazing groups but one 5 round group I managed to get in the 3 inch area, which realistically is combat adequate.

Next time I intend to get my M95 Bulgarian in 8x50r out and see how it performs. Now here is a photo of the Carbine and my final results (16rds on paper).
