    looks like it was a fairly nice stock before... got the early style rear bands

    though the rest of it is an enormous lemon... shame

    I did the same thing to a beach 788 Remington stock 30 years ago. Couldn't get it to stain so you soak a piece of string in kerosene wrap it around the stock and set it on fire. This is how some early gunsniths did it to get fiddleback in muzzle loader stocks.

    I went to Hyatts a week ago and examined this rifle. I would pay $350 for it.
