Some pre WW2 rebuild marking
I found a few photos of some pre WW2 rebuild stamps used on the 1903 rifles. These are not really that common but can be found. A nice example of the POD Philippine Ordnance Depot stamp is difficult to findAttachment 58165Attachment 58166

I have a rifle with a POD stock but I installed the stock myself. Now if I could find a POD rifle with definite provenance to the Philippines ...
Another you don't see very much is PaOD [Panama Ordnance Depot].

Rick, I have been told that there are Model 1917 Enfield stocks with the POD stamp too, I have never seen one but it would not surprise me either.

With 200,000 M1917s going to the Philippines in pre-1941, it wouldn't surprise me, either!

Canfield's new book "The M1 Garand Rifle" has details about the sale of the Model 1917 to the Philippines starting in 1936

Supposedly, the money realized from the sales of M1917s (which was dirt cheap) helped to provide money for M1 development and tooling up.
