    Siamese Enfield sling.

Does anyone know for sure what style/type of sling went out with the Siamese Enfields?
I have a nice example sans sling but have yet to see one with a sling. I expect the humid climate made short work of them.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. I have no idea what type was issued with them, but I would assume the Pattern 1908 web sling: the King was educated at Sandhurst and the rifles were his personal purchase, not the Government's.

You can say, quite honestly, that you own a rifle which was the PERSONAL property of a King!

Mine has the standard 1908-type sling on it right now.

    Hope this helps.

PS: like your avatar! I had that on a cap, almost got me into a fistfight in a bar in St. John's!
I note the very low post number: welcome aboard!

Right on the money regarding the Avatar. It came off a hat my brother sent down from Calgary in the early '80's . We live near Belleville, Ontario where the hat was made and he saw the IRONY in a "separatist" hat for an area so industriallly undeveloped that they had to get even a hat from the "East".
I love Canadaicon from coast to coast and even though the avatar is a bit humorous, it does serve to remind us to always think about our kin elsewhere.

    Back to the Sling.
If anyone has furthur info or possibly an early pic showing these, it would be much appreciated.
    Cheers
