Need help with No.5Mk1 production date

Ten years ago I purchased a nice condition No.5 Mk 1 for $50. The problem is that the previous owner polished up the receiver so much that the production date and ordnance factory information were obliterated. The serial number on the stock and the magazine is AA5940 and all the parts that are marked seem to be Fazakerley. Ian Skennertonicon states in one of his books that production of these rifles at Fazakerley ceased at the end of 1947. I assume that the rifle was from a 1947 production run but is there any way to discover the month using the serial number. Thanks for any help.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Tikirocker, the moderator at Surplusrifles.Com, has a very nice "sticky" thread gathering data on No.5 serial numbers etc.

    Perhaps that might help?

Badger, thanks much for the help. I found a serial number range that my rifle fits into and according to the site you recommended it looks as if the rifle was produced in 5/47. Thanks again.
