New (to me) STEN

After waiting patiently for several months, I was finally able to bring my STEN home Thursday night. It's not the prettiest, but seems accurate and reliable - I fired 200 rounds through it yesterday, without any hiccups. I have a copy of Captain Laidler's book, and have learned much from it. My STEN was built by Taylor Manufacturing of Decatur, GA. Does anyone here know anything about the history of Taylor Manufacturing or have experience with their STENS?

I had a small number of Stens through time and found them accurate and basicly reliable. The only time it would fail on me was something I had done. Maybe poor ammo. Nothing like firing lighter loads and having the whole mag dump. Use good ammo and load your mags at home in good light, and there'll be no problems. Mine were all Long Branch as far as I can remember.

Good to see someone leaning into the gun correctly. Nice bits of kit aren't they.

The good thing about the STEN is that it dosn't matter who made/assembled it, they all look like a STEN. I've seen good welds, bad welds, ground welds and weld splatter and no one can deny it did exactly what was asked of it. A cheap simple gun (Dare I say, Disposable?)that anyone can use.

I've really become attached to it in a short period of time. The welds on it are pretty ugly (I'm not a particularly skilled welder, but think my welds wouldn't look much worse), but it performs beautifully. It's definitely a "keeper".

So much for the bad press we had even here on this forum. I still believe the vast majority of problems are user caused, with the exception of guns that were used hard in war and saw little maintenance. Of course they'll fall apart.

I have a Sten Mark V that I had built on a Taylor tube. I can't fault it in any way. Simple bit of engineering that works. I shoot the Pakistani made 9mm Mark 2z ammo available from SAMCO through it. I load the 32 round mags with 30 rounds for minimum initial feed problems

I typically download high capacity mags for all my weapons by a couple of rounds - although I have spoken with many who say it's unnecessary, I think it increases reliability - and 30 rounds per magazine is plenty for my recreational shooting anyway! Do you know anything about Taylor? I've searched all over the internet, and haven't been able to turn up much.
