    Need advice with mas36

Need some advice guys. i picked up a french mas36 a few weeks ago for 30.00
stock was all chopped up bubba style. i ordered a stock set from sarco. with all hard ware for 60.00. everything fits nice execpt i do not have a frount sight. looks like orginal was sawed off an a mauser base with 1/2 a lyman blade leadded to frount of barrel. took that off real easy.
my question is how was orginal attached to barrel an were can i find one, bubba even tried to cut thru rear sight ring.

Your best chance of getting MAS36 parts is probably here:
    http://www.cartry-arme.com/

and the exploded drawing gives you an idea of how the parts are assembled:
    http://www.cartry-arme.com/pdf/mas36-2014.pdf

That mangled foresight was indeed recycled from a K98kicon (note the groove for the sight hood).

    Good luck with the restoration!

That depends if you have a 1st or 2nd type. Click on this link armement reglementaire francais les fusils and in chapter IV) Fonctionnement et constitution you will find some good pictures.

This guy in Franceicon is selling some: GUIDON DE MAS 36 (2237054)

Try to contact him, maybe he will ship to the U.S.? (guidon means frontsight) Or you can ask a gunsmith to make one, it doesn't matter if it isn't an original one, you can't see it anyway.

Yes, it is a 2nd type, I think chances on finding a 1st type are slim.
