A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Kinda begs the question....."What the hell were you thinking?"

The real point to ponder is that somehow, somewhere there exists an individual that thinks that form of abortion is actually an "improvement"...and that there are other people that are bound to agree with him! Good Gawd Amighty!

Take it into Cabelas and and have them fix you up with a scope mount. Maybe Wallmart will have one.

You guys would mess your pants if you saw the book put out by the Williams Gunsight Co. in the 1950's & 60’s called "How to Convert Military Rifles." Good stuff in there like milling the sight ears of off M1917's, jewelling the gas cylinder on the M1icon Garand & other "improvements" like thumb-hole stocks & contrasting wood inlays. The military sights were chopped off to be replaced by Williams’s aluminum sights & scope mounts.
Sometimes the "good 'ol days" weren’t that good.

An M1icon would make one hell of a deer rifle. But wtf does everyone and their brother have to jerry rig the gun? Especially by cutting the sites off to put a scope on. I mean don't get me wrong I have a scope on my Remington 700 and have killed many a deer with it but, I mean the peep on am M1 is about as good as it gets. I mean its one of the easiest adjusting sites I have ever seen.

That thing is HORRID! Best thing for it would be to offer it to Captain Crunch as a sacrificial offering.
