    sight removal

I was hoping someone could tell me how to remove the front and rear sights on a no, 1 mkIII. My stocks have finally broken and become useless and I am going to have to restock and I assume the sights must be drifted off , but before I start hammering I thought I would ask . Thanks for any help. Randy

The sights don`t have to be removed to change the woodwork.

    sight remonal II

Thanks for the response S-A-M3 , I realize that the sights do not have to be removed to replace the wood stocks, but I am going to use an after market synthetic stock and in veiwing their advertisements , I see the sights have been removed. So , in order to insure that my new stock fits, I thought I would try to find out how to remove them.

    Question

Have you checked the Technical Articles for Milsurp Collectors and Re-loaders (click here)

Instructions for Amourers -1931 (Part 2 - Small Arms) (click here)

Covers "Stripping and Re-assembling Rifles No. 1, Mk. III & III*, and Rifles No. 2, Mk. IV."
Covers "Adjustment of Sight— Telescopic— Rifles No. 3, Mk. I* (T)"
Covers "Description and Use of Armourers’ Gauges and certain Tools
Covers "Repairs, Modifications and Adjustments, etc. to Rifles No. 1, Mk. III and III* and Rifles No. 2, Mk. IV*

Not sure if it will help, but worth a look ..

    Regards,
    Badger
