Hi all, I just found this site this morning and it's great! My dad left me a 1922 ShtLE 1, mark V and this site told me more about that gun than all I found in the past 3 days of research. I just finished checking it's feeding function with cast lead bullets, dad had complained it wouldn't feed. Feeds great now - too bad he didn't get to shoot it.

I'm a woodcarver and sculptor who has part timed for 4 years doing stocks, repairing, refinishing and recheckering for a gunsmith.

I started an enduring interest in guns when I received two argentine mausers for my 18th Christmas.

just joined, I own a 1903 spring feild and 03a3 smith corona. Both guns are new to me. the smith corona probably has not been shot in 40 years the 03 is set up for long range shooting. I also have an 1917 enfeild coming soon. I am not a new shooter, but new to this type of rifle and shooting. I recently shot in my first M1icon garand match and did fairly well. Any help or info would be welocome.

    Widebody

Hello everyone! I am a chronic gun nut. I shoot all types of firearms but have the most interest in various Springfield rifles. My latest is a 1903-A3 untouched or altered. I will definitely shoot this rifle and look forward to doing so during the holiday.

I like Enfield's as well and also have a Venezuelan contract Mauser short rifle.

Look forward to reading the threads!

    New guy from DE

Greetings from DE. I'm kinda new to old military guns and I'm looking for all the help i can get. Recently acquired a M1icon and 1903A3 from CMPicon. Don't know much about them except the date of manufacture. Seems the M1 I got was made in 1941 and rebuilt sometime around 1955 (barrel date). The '03 was made in 43 and has a 43 date barrel.

Both rifles have nice shiny barrels('03 was filled with soot but cleaned up nicely) and look great to me. I've got them all apart right now to give them a through cleaning and new springs. Cleaned up the wood and put on a few coats of BLOicon.

Hopefully will have them back together and to the range to see which reloads (worked up a large batch, IMR4895, bullets from 130 -200 grains). Trying to duplicate at least M1 and M ball for the garand, as well as lighter and heavier for the '03 and a REM 700 I own.

Hope to learn alot from here and thanks for having a site for old military guns.

    Steve

    Smile Hi Guys!

    Hello all,

I recently cam across this forum while looking for info on a rifle I'm buying (I've paid for it, just waiting for the Permit to Acquire to come back), a US Property Savage No 4 Mark I*.

It will be the first (and definatley not the last) milsurp in my collection. I've already got about 5 rifles and shotgun, and one of these is an FN Mauser 98 that my Dad converted to .308 Norma Magnum back in the 80's with a super heavy barrel (almost no taper!), he passed away when I was 8 so I have no idea what he wanted to hunt with it. I'll get some pics if you wish.

As you probably deduced from my comment about a Permit to Acquire, I'm from Australiaicon, Central West NSW to be exact. One of the local gun dealers is a massive Martini Henry/Lee rifle collector so his knowledge (and parts!) will hopefully give me some good leads to track down more good milsurps (there was also a No 1 Mark III Lithgow there when I paid for the No 4, so if it's still there when my tax cheque comes here's hoping I can grab that too!)

I'm also an avid reloader (helps alot when you have a .308 Norma), so I'd love to find some good loading data for the .303 Britishicon as I plan on knocking over a good share of pigs when this rifle comes!!
