    Newbie introduction

Hello everyone, I'm joining this forum today because I just got one of my Holy Grail rifles.
The M1icon Carbine. It is a 1944 Inland and as far as I can tell mostly all Inland parts. I joined a different M1 carbine forum yesterday and asked a few questions...Nothing but crickets. I'm hoping not to get the same chilly reception here. I ask questions to learn more about my new (expensive) hobbie. I will be grateful for any help or advise I can get. Thanks.

Hello Everyone. I've just recently become involved in what is currently a hobby; making old WW1 rifles operational and find that I know very little compared to the rest of you folks. I'll not get in the way but may call on someone's expertise so as not to tread down the wrong path. I'm an old guy, not too terribly stupid and have made it to retirement; a super achievement in of itself considering how I made a living for seventy years. Semper Fi to all that might find the phrase familiar.

    New Member, New Long Branch

A few weeks ago I purchased my first Enfield. a 1944 No4 MK1*. I put a lot of time and effort into its selection. I walked into a gun shop I'd never been in before, saw it sitting in a rack of used rifles and I didn't seem to be able to walk back out without it. The owner assured me that as a "Long Branch" it was (and I quote) very desirable. So $300 later I'm out the door and doing research on it. It is in decent shape and I like the fact that it appears it has never had anything done to it, not sporterized, reblued or refinished just a nice old Enfield the bolt has the same number as the receiver but the bayonet does not. I had a gunsmith check it out he said headspace was correct, barrel fair, bolt good ready to shoot. I put about 60 rounds through it and was it ever fun. Not ready for the mad minute or anything but I hit everything I aimed at (more or less). Operator error on getting all ten rounds in without managing to get a rim locked behind another rim. That only seems to happen on the first or second round, it seems after that to cycle fine. I'm pretty sure it's me. Anyway, love the gun, glad I found this forum I purchased a 1923 Mosin right after the Enfield so now I have two Milsurps. Long intro. I know but I would like to finish by asking for any advice on a correct (for the gun) ladder sight. I understand that while the milled ladder with the micro adjuster is nice, the MK1* would not have had one like that as it was the "budget" version and would likely have had a stamped MK3 sight made in Canadaicon at Long Branch. At the moment it has the little flip 300 vs 600. Any thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated.
