Up Date on Law in South Carolina !!

This is update on whats going on in South Carolina, concerning CWP.

    ************************************************** ******

SOUTH CAROLINA: Two Pro-Gun, Pro-Hunting Bills Marching Forward! On Tuesday, June 2, Governor Mark Sanford (R) signed Senate Bill 593 into law. The bill will allow Right-to-Carry permit holders to keep a firearm in their vehicles when on school property. SB 593 is now in effect. Also, House Bill 3483, the Right to Hunt & Fish Constitutional Amendment, passed and will now be in the hands of the voters of South Carolina, who will be able to vote on the proposed amendment in November 2010.
    ************************************************** ***

Evidently we didn't have the right to hunt & fish.

I'll have to look into this second bill and find what brought this on..

As far as I know only Native American Indians have a Right to hunt, for the rest of us it's a Privilege same as driving a car is.

We do have a Right to own and use Firearms!

Hank, your statement may have brought this issue up. We have got our share of tree huggers and anti gun nuts in this state. Just got off the phone with a Sen., and he was unaware of this bill. ( That doesn't surprise me) He supports CWP and is an instuctor in CWP applications. Also a DEM. I'll get and answer, he promised. "We will see"

In New York State American Indians are given a hunting licence free, hence Right,we pay for the license to hunt same as a Drivers licence, hence Privilege.

That's been my take for sometime now.

That may be the case in some states, but as the OP points out, not in South Carolina. And after the next General Election in 2010, it will not be the case in Arkansas -- a right to hunt amendment to the state constitution will be on the ballot.
