I have a 23 year old girlfriend. And all the old equipment works just fine! She has been in New Zealandicon for the last 6 months and will be home with me on 7 July...

These "old" parts are original replacement front sights for 1911s, and are scarcer than hen's teeth, believe me!!!

You just struck gold!!! lol Nice find. Man I couldn't tell you the last time I have seen one of those laying around. Especially the round tenon ones.

This is a long shot, but you didn't find in that same box by chance, a nice early round rear sight as well did you? lol I need one for a restoration!

And my hat is off to you sir about the 23 year old girlfriend. Not only do you have one of the nicest collections I have seen in 1911's and A1's, but a young girlfriend as well.... I'm jealous of both! lol

I don't know though, I might have to chose one of your early Navy 1911's over the girlfriend though. Least the gun you can lock up in the safe when you get tired of looking at it. I would love to do that to my wife when she is nagging me, but I'm pretty sure she would call the police!

Here is an interesting mix of sights! The unfinished type I bought from Gun Parts Corp. (Numrich) several years ago for the Colt 1903 Pocket. They are not tapered. The copper one was made from a penny.

The three on the lower left I am sure are original, and the slightly larger one is possible. It is the correct color and it has the taper.... I don't know if Colt made different sizes. Maybe Remington-UMC made spares or possibly Springfield Armory... Hmmmmmmmmm.... It is a puzzlement!!!!!!!

i notice that every one is a little different, would it be a good guess they were hand made??
My Norski 1911 has a 1911 post style sight as well, however it has milled cuts at the rear, like id ever be abe to see them..

i dated , if you can call it that , a 23 year old a couple years ago, found we hand just one thing in common, not that thats a bad thing,
i just like the women in my age group a little better.

I believe you are correct about the sights. Each is a little different. This is the first time I have been able to compare several examples!!!!

Actually we are not "dating" per se. I have known her since she was 19 and she is more of a friend and protegee. We have become close friends over the years, and I feel that I am more of a surrogate father and she is my third daughter. We just like being with each other and we like to travel together.... She will get home from 6 months in New Zealandicon with the YMCA on July 7th. I took her to the Reno gun show last year and she really had fun. She will be with me at the August Reno show.. She will be a great help to me...

At 76 and after two strokes, I don't like being alone! She just graduated from college and her prospects for employment are slim, so I will "hire" her for a while. She is from Missoula, MT and I am considering moving to Missoula both for her and to get out of the People's Republic of Washington. Last week, the City Council of Bellingham held a meeting to consider an ordinance to declare Bellingham a "Sanctuary City for AWOL Service Personnel", THE LAST STRAW for me!!!!

I will like Montana for many reasons!!!!!!

I think a lot of us on both sides of the border are starting to find a new respect for the State of Montana...
