    03 Bayonet input appreciated

Well it has been awhile. Things have been hectic here. Anyhow I just bumped into this bayonet and although it was evidently appraised at around 650 it has me confused as there is no serial number. It is otherwise identical to others I have seen. It is in outstanding shape, never sharpened or used as a tent stake etc. Shiney blade with some light spotting, thread on the scabbard is excellent except coming loose at one side nothing major. Photos are below. Input appreciated....real, fake? why no serial?

Rock Island Arsenal bayonets from 1906 were not serial numbered. They started numbering in 1907. Springfield Armory numbered theirs starting in 1906. I don't see anything obvious from the pictures that looks incorrect. Seems to be a fairly nice set. If you repost on the Knife and Bayonet Forum, I know there are many more expert than I that could offer further opinion. Plus you can check out Gary Cunningham's Bayonet Points articles. Look for them here (listed in the index). US Military Knives Bayonets Machetes
