Best of the GCA Journal Book 1

I just received mine today. If any of you out there are on the fence about whether to get it or not.....get it. Lots of good information for the collector in you as well as some excellent articles. I ordered Book 2 along with the Book 1 when I reupped my membership. Hopefully it will get here soon.

You are right John. I picked up Book 1 when they first became available some time back and it's great. I recently ordered Book 2 when I renewed my membership but it hasn't arrived yet....looking forward to getting it.

Book 2 is just being finalized for publication. Perhaps the end of August it will be available if not sooner.

Does the new book contain an index to various articals ??? I have been a member of the GCAicon since 1988 and have all the issues of the GCA Journals. The problem is finding articals in back issues. Back around 2000 the GCA published an index for Vol 1, number 1 thru Vol. 14 number 2. I have not seen an update. I know there is an index on the internet at GCA Journal - Garand Collectors Association - M1 Garand Information
but I am "old School" and do much better with a hard copy.

That's better than nothing and I took your advice and printed it, but if you wanted to find, say, IHC rifles, you would need to look through all 18 pages to see what issues had info on IHC's. On the computer you have the ability to do a search for what you are looking for but I don't want to have to go to the computer every time I want to look something up.
The index that the GCAicon had for Vol. 1 to 14 was broken down by subjects in alphabetical order. Say you were looking for something to do with "rear sights" under "R" you would find the heading "Rear Sights". Under this heading all the articles written regarding rear sights and the Vol, issue and page number of the articals location. It was nicely done and I wish they had printed another for the rest of the issues.
Which is why I asked if the new books have an index. If so, I would probably buy them even though I have the individual issues.
