Go to his van(in stealth mode),open the slider or rear doors, break the windows if need be,dump in five gallons of gas and toss in a road flare from a distance.
A few days later put your van out in the yard with a for sale sign on it!!

I'd go to the police immediately. I would not go to his parents, as it will just give them time to work up a lie if they are not the type that believe in personal responsibility. Don't do anything that will make you the bad guy.

Unfortunatly even though you own and can even maybe positively ID them you are still taking something from someone else property without permission. That in the eyes of the law is stealing. So in an act of rightousness you become what you despise.
50 years ago you went to the parents and probably it would not happen again. Today our government doesn't trust parents to raise their own kids. If you don't spare the rod you ae going to jail for child abuse .So if your kid acts up you have to call the police and have them arrested. Enough arrests and they have a record and now they can't exercise their 2nd amendment rights. Call the police and let them deal with it.

When I was about 13 I was caught doing wrong and when the sheriff's deputies came to the door my mom and dad called me to the door and as I stepped out onto the front poarch, the door closed and locked behind me! First and last time I did anything stupid!

A policeman once escorted my brother and I home by the ear and by the hair. Long story short, he held one of us while my mother took the strap to the other on the front porch in front of all the neighbors. Neighbors didn't hesitate to ridicule us for about a week. No arrests, no child abuse, and no police brutality. We didn't throw stones at passing trucks anymore either.
Those days are long gone.

Thanks for all your help. Decided to just let the police take care of this. This whole family is really bad news. The mother invited police in the house the other day and they found illegal drugs on the kitchen table in plain sight Dad is not employed and now facing drug charges. Can see where this young man inherited his intelligence. So I don't know how this will end. Think mom and dad may go to jail and the children may go to social service.
Tightened up my security and all my neighbors are on alert to this situation and will call the police if anyone shows up.
Just glad I'm not a LEO or a Judge that has to deal with this kind of low life on a daily basis.

What makes you think they'd just watch?
All the guy wants are his parts returned. Not an @$$kickin and jail time.

Is he ever going to get his parts back? The police will want them for evidence and you know how long it takes for a trial to occur and that's if he can even prove they're his. If they get the parents on drug charges and the children go to social services he may never see his parts again. It really depends on how the locals handle the situation which, can vary a great deal form place to place.
