My son has a 1914 dated Oviedo model 95 Mauser 7x57mm carbine and it has a feeding problem. If a round is fed into the chamber and the bolt closed, all is well. However, if a round is inserted into the magazine and attempted to be chambered, it will hang up on the edge of the chamber and jam. I turns out that the firing pin is protruding from the bolt face when the bolt is opened, preventing the rim from being fully captured by the extractor and holding the round down at an angle, causing the jam. I have compared the bolt from the Spanish rifle with the bolt from a M95 Chilleno DWM and, when the bolt is opened, the firing pin on the DWM bolt does not protrude from the bolt face. Anyone have any suggestions for a "Fix" for this problem?

Thanks in advance.
