We have seen this joke before. A great in detailed story with no proof. Actually most of the claims go against known facts.

Here is an original Pre Mid 1943 Khaki Sling. At the time of this posting it still has 6 more days to go and is already over $52.00. My guess is it will end up in the $125.00 dollar range or more.

I emailed the seller about 3 weeks ago and told him they were repros. he told me he found a crate full of them with english writing on it so they had to be real.

I think now's the time to buy slings the prices have came down some. about 8 months ago I was getting $75 to $85 for a nice c tip sling now I have a hard time getting $50. for one.

I don't know what you mean by nice. But unless you have a bunch of them, I would just hold on to them for a while.
My extras are mostly near mint and coded. I wouldn't part with them for anything near a $50 price.

the mint ones I keep the ones I sell are in good shape but they are used and not maker marked. I am down to about 25 slings but the person I get them from has 3 warehouses full of military Items when they find something I might be looking for they call me but I never know when and what its going to be.

Hi Gentlemen...this is related to this thread. I was bidding on this sling but didn't win it. Basically nice story and close up photos. The snaps even have the LIFT THE DOT markings. But I saw these same snaps for sale on another site as a repro. for restoration....Sorry to ask a noob question but...if this is a repro., did they really make things like these during WWII or something to laugh at too? Does the weave of the sling at least look legit? TIA!! : )

They've been making very good repro's of the different type 'NobuckL' slings for years.
There's not enough detail in that photo for me to tell anything. I'd need a close look at the hardware, etc. Bill might be able to tell from that photo.
I don't know much about the different stamps they used on them. As always, stamped slings are rare to find and should raise 'closer inspection' nerves in the first place.

The Thompson sling is legit.
