I agree, Wheaty could tell you for sure.

The stiffening bar, on the back side is wrong as well.

    Hi All,

The mount that is mentioned is an repro. You can clearly see the edges. The original mounts are cast in one piece and the edges are smooth.
I have seen 5 diffrent cast versions:
    - the ones coded JC (made in the UKicon during the war)
    - the ones coded N92 (made in the UK during the war)
    - the ones coded C in an circle (made in Canadaicon during the war)
    - the ones that are uncoded (made in the UK by Roger Paine), these are repros but very exact ones
    - the ones coded with an triangle (made in the Netherlands after the war) by Delft Instruments. These were used for the Dutch build No32 Mk 3 scope, also by Delft Instruments and coded xxx-H like the Canadian scopes.

    Have fun!!

Harry has it almost right. The two Canadianicon marks "normally found" on the mounts are: the usual C broad arrow (small) and an oval with a C broad arrow "lying down" and the inspection number "57". I also have one with the "Maltese cross" on it as a "none standard part". Also, Canadian mounts NORMALLY do not have the rings numbered. HOWEVER, some do on the FRONT of the ring and oh, so very lightly. You actually need a 10X glass to see the marks. I have several different markings and will photograph them and post them shortly. I just seem to keep running out of time for anything these days. The last supply of mounts that apparently came from Sporotsman's (supply?) in the US were molded after the Canadian mount with the angle from the rear leg quite evident. There are also number of rifles that are OUTSIDE the accepted range of snipers that some claim as "definitive". I have seen them and have photographed them and NO reason to doubt them, as they have been sitting in Museums since the War and are very traceable. Hope this thickens the mud on the sniper mounts and just remember when you think you have seen it all, another left curve comes at you. There also has been a few lots of mounts made in the UKicon privately, and I know three people that have done runs in the UK right now. Those mounts (the UK made ones) have been trickling into the market and they are good copies.

FLASH: I just spoke with a chum in Paris and the Frenchicon Government has scrapped a small number of No.4T sniper rifles and components. Scopes were cut up, mounts removed and rifles destroyed. The rifles were cut into pieces, however it is known that a few parts "fell off the turnip truck". The scope tubes were destroyed, however some of the lenses are on the loose, along with "other components". I just followed the link on Epay, and it is from France. A closer look at the mounts is warranted....Just my 2 cents on this. The mount does look a bit funny, however looking at some of mine, I'd have to have it in my hot little hands to see. I will ask my "man in Paris" to investigate and get back to me. He knows everyone (almost) in the Lee Enfield parts trade...
