    CMP Garand scope mount

Has anyone installed and used the scope mount that CMPicon is selling. Did you like it? Trying to get a feel if I will get one.

    I like it

I have one, it was easy to install and rock solid. It is not something that you will want to remove often. It is attached around the barrel and requires, of course removal of the rear handguard. It does also add some weight to the front of the rifle, making it a little front heavy. That said, I like it and put an inexpensive pistol scope on it and enjoy shooting it immensely.

    Thanks all
I saw it at the south store while buying ammo and for $100 bucks seemed a deal. My eyes arn't what they used to be if you know what I mean..!

    CMP Scope Mount

If used for target shooting I feel the mount lacks the needed satiability. The attachment to the barrel only supports the front of the mount, leaving the back half cantilevered over the barrel and not attached to the barrel.

I used one of the mounts for a short rifle I built. But ended up drilling and tapping the barrel and adding two screws to keep the rear of the mount in place.

My point…ok for plinking but not recommended for serious target shooting.

Have maybe 300 rounds through a previously little-fired 7.62 match rifle I wanted to use in 3-gun. So far rock-solid zero, one match down. My only regret; I used a cheap Simmons instead of a good Burris scope. As for the muzzle-heavy feel, you can get used to it. Offhand is not bad.

I have two of them, one on a tanker and one on my HRA service grade. Both rifles shoot under 3" but my tanker comes in every time at just a hair under 1.25" with my scout scope setup. Both rifles used to have the S&K mount and I had the same results. I just didn't like the off set style shooting when I'm deer hunting. Good question
