Yard Sale .303 Enfield, need info......

This is a really nice gun, all original finish is 90%, bright shiney bore, marked '111*' and SMLE. CAI import, guy claims to have had it for over 10 years. Not my field.......has 500 rnds of boxed commercial ammo (marked 7.7 but is rimmed???). $300, for all.

Have no idea what these rifles sell for, what should I do??? PJHeck heckinohio@att.net

Haggle for a lower price but buy it.

Commercial ammunition - are you sure? The only 7.7 marked I've seen is South African and that's military. Ammo is worth 40 cents a round so 500 rounds is worth $200. A No.1 Mark III* if sporterized would be worth $100, so you can't get hurt. If it's matching serial numbers and complete, it should be worth at least $250.

I recall years ago Finlandicon put piles of .303 ammo on the world market. Marked 7.7mm in 15 round paper boxes. No idea how the Finns got Britishicon ammo.

This is really the wrong forum---
Finnishicon .303 was made at VPT----Valtion Ammunition Factory---and was intended for the machine guns in their Brewster Buffalo fighters.
