Headspace Guage for No. 4 Mk 1

I know I read something about this in the past, but couldn't find it using the search function. Who sells a proper headspace guage for this rifle? What should I be looking for? Thanks. -IJ

Do you have a set of vernier calipers ?

If you do you can save the price of headspace gauges by using an unfired case and a spent primer.
    (cheap bastards headspace gauge)

I've got one set left to sell, (.064, .067, .074), before I have to order more from Australiaicon. Email directly if you want a set. Yeah, they're expensive but unfortunately, I'm not as smart as Ed so I need them to make life simple.

    Infidel,

I stand open to correction but I believe Brownell's sells SAAMI standard gauges. I made that mistake earlier on and found Arrowmark gauges that are made to Britishicon military specifications.

Brownells is SAAMI. There is someone selling Britishicon type field gauges on e-pay. They measure out to .074 so they are the correct height.

Don't forget when it comes to headspace the Americans dumped Britishicon tea in Boston Harbor and then created the SAAMI.
(the British responded by burning Washington)

    .064 minimum
    .067 maximum
    .071 field

The Canadians didn't dump British tea in Halifax Harbor, they just rewrote the headspace specifications in their Canadianicon No.4 Manual.

    .064 minimum
    .070 maximum
    .074 field

The important Canadianicon gauges are the same as the Britishicon ones. .064 Go and .074 Field. The No-Go gauge was hardly ever used anyhow.

    Brian

In the Canadianicon manual the .070 gauge is listed as “Base Maximum”, does this mean when the Enfield was brought back for inspection or repairs the head space was readjusted to .070 or less.

I'm asking because I was guessing that the head space was closed up due to the use of commercial ammunition by the Rangers????

Does anyone know the “official” reason for the three head space gauges the Canadian military used on the Enfield Rifleicon. (I gots to know)
