Sierra going 24 hrs 7 days production

spoke to cust service at Sierra about lack of bullets and just none available and the answer was

We are running 24hours a day, 7 days a week and really do not know when other bullets will be scheduled

guess no bullets for any caliber other than military, although they did not say what they are running, to be fair

I spoke with a guy in the industry the other day and he said that everyone in the arms business is up and running at full tilt since the last election. If they aren't making war materials, they are trying to get caught up on orders for the consumer market. Firearms are lagging behind, the ammo and components you already know about and the military stuff has taken precedent in several major manufacturers as the war in Afghanistan starts to gear up. That situation will depend on what the President decides to do about the additional 40,000 troops needed according to the last assessment. Not a political comment, just saying we may see even more strain on firearms consumer goods if there are additional troops sent there.

So, everyone is working full blast apparently. Our ammo situation wouldn't be so critical if the Chinese weren't buying all the copper they can get hold of to complete the re-wiring of so many power lines, sub-stations, etc., as they build their economy into the world power we and the other developed nations have made it. They have the money to make it a truly first class economic power from all I can judge. Add to that the fact that Bush shut down something like 7 or 8 government plants to load ammo, preferring to buy commercial ammo instead.

    Hope this helps.

    Angry

Asked my local supplier for 1000 copper plated 158 gr .38's. He told me they may be in in 6 months. Guess I'll have to go with cast lead.
